so I just moved to brighton,
yesterday, from canada.
I'm living in residence at sussex, although i think i might need to relocate to a more yoga/organic food/artistic oriented place at some point....
but for now, what do i do? where do I go?
specifically, to find a cheap bike, a yoga studio, somewhere I can go to use a sewing machine, somewhere to meet some cool kids..?, fabric stores, cheap produce......???

You can download The Insight, it's a quaterly publication about things to do in Brighton, you'll see it in main buildings and pubs but you can also download it for free:
www.theinsight.co.uk
Also, visit Infinity Foods in the Lanes, their shopwindow is full full of adverts of people and events, yoga, organic farming, creative activities, it's in:
www.infinityfoods.co.uk/infini...ex.html
Some links of places with yoga classes, though some of them are more towards Hove:
www.acupuncture-clinic.org/
www.yogahaven.co.uk
www.evolutionarts.co.uk/yoga
www.planet-janet.com/yoga.html

Re: now whut?
Wed, January 3, 2007 - 5:30 AMYes, these are all good links - infinity food shop is great, and they also have a cafe in the lanes which is yummy. Head to the north lanes for all kinds of material shops, second hand shops, yoga, juice bars, cafes, junk shops.
Centre of town (north street, churchill square etc) is more mainstream and expensive and less interesting stuff.
If you're looking for dance classes, Hilde is great (www.hildebellydance.co.uk). You'll find yoga everywhere...
Hope you enjoy!!

Re: now whut?
Wed, October 11, 2006 - 1:27 AMThe topic of the price of food keeps cropping up, which is good. Personally, I find a few places much cheaper for fruit and veg than the big stores - try the Open Market (between Ditchling Road and London Road, and which also has an organic stall called "Pulse"), or some of the local greengrocers scattered around London Road.
Don't know much about fabric shops - I like the feel of Fabric Fair in the North Laine, but couldn't tell you if it's cheap/good or what :)
